Euro 2012 qualifying is off to a rousing start and several of the big European sides are looking comfortable after their first two games. England claimed a comfortable 3-1 win in Switzerland behind goals from Wayne Rooney, Darren Bent and Adam Johnson. The two wins leave England atop Group G with surprising Montenegro who knocked off Bulgaria.
Italy won easily 5-0 over the Faroe Islands and lead Group C. Serbia and Northern Ireland are giving chase. Holland is off to a good start in Group E claiming wins over San Marino and Finland. Germany is off and flying in Group A with a pair of wins.
Meanwhile, there are others in big trouble right off the bat. Portugal have dug themselves a deep hole in Group H and face the very real possibility of missing out on Euro 2012. They were held at home to a draw with Cyprus and followed that up today with a loss to Norway. France lost their opener in Group D and Russia were upset by Slovakia on a Miroslav Stoch strike.
