Spain and Italy seal places at Euro 2012

Spain and Italy seal places at Euro 2012
Spain and Italy sealed their places at next summer's Euro 2012 with wins on Tuesday.  Spain had no problem smashing minnows Liechtenstein 6-0 to wrap up qualifying Group I.  David Villa and Navaro Negredo scored twice in the easy win.

Italy had a much tougher time claiming their place as they slipped past Slovenia on a late goal from sub Pazzini in the 85th minute of play.   Italy has won Group C, but have been less than impressive of late.  On Friday they barely got past Faeroe Islands also by a 1-0 score.

Holland kept their perfect run of unbeaten play as they won impressively 2-0 in Finland.  They still need a point to wrap up the group, but that should be no problem at all.   England got past Wales on an Ashley Young goal, but again failed to impress at Wembley.  The game was marred by the death of a Wales fan during a pregame assault outside the stadium.

France sit in a tenuous position after a scoreless draw at Romania.  They sit only a point ahead of Bosnia who they'll face in the final group match October 11.  Russia kept control of Group F after playing to a draw with 2nd place Ireland.
