The transfer window for the EPL and Europe has officially closed and a flurry of signings took place at the death with several big names moving. Arsenal have been floundering on the field and fans have been begging the club to bring in some new blood. They closed with four signings who should be able to help turn around the poor start. Midfielders Mikael Arteta and Yossi Benayoun arrive to make up for the earlier losses of Fabregas and Nasri. Arsenal bolstered their backline with the signing of German Per Mertesacker from Werder Bremen to go along with Brazilian left back Andre Santos.
Chelsea made the swoop to grab Raul Meireles from rivals Liverpool. While Manchester City brought in the oft-injured Owen Hargreaves on a one year deal.
Stoke City made a splash as they grabbed three on the day. They grabbed Peter Crouch and Wilson Palacios from ailing Tottenham. Watch out for those long looping Stoke throw ins now! Stoke also added dangerous forward Clayton Jerome from Birmingham.
Tottenham were only able to add Scott Parker from relegated West Ham although they were able to fend off the buyers and hold onto the talented Luka Modric.
Manchester City were able to decrease their ridiculous payroll a bit as they shipped out Shaun Wright-Philips and Craig Bellamy.
