It's come to the final weekend of the English Premier League season and all is to play for as Chelsea and Manchester United sit tied atop the table. Man U controls the tie breaker thanks to their insurmountable 17 goal lead in differential. This factor means that Manchester United can take the English Premier League title with a win on the road at Wigan Athletic who currently sit 13th in the table. Despite the long odds, Wigan Player of the Year Paul Scharner said this week that Wigan would throw everything at Man U in an effort to get a resutl.
Chelsea, on the other hand, gets to finish with a home match at Stamford Bridge against 16th place Bolton. It should be a much easier task for Chelsea as Bolton secured safety last weekend with a solid 2-0 win over Sunderland. Michael Ballack has been on fire for Chelsea lately with three goals in his last two league matches.
The drama at the top of the table is definitely matched by the fight for survival at the bottom of the table. Bolton and Fulham both recorded important victories last weekend. Bolton was able to secure their spot in the league for next year with the win over Sunderland. Fulham kept their strong run and hopes alive with a 2-0 win over Birmingham. Reading, on the other hand, continued to slump with a home loss to Tottenham and look in real danger of going down.
Two of Reading, Fulham and Birmingham will go down while one shall survive. Of the three only Birmingham is at home as they host Blackburn. Fulham faces a tough trip to Portsmouth while Reading travels to last place Derby. All matches are on Sunday this weekend and what a wild day it shall be!
