The semifinals are set at the Under 20 World Cup in Egypt and as usual in youth World Cups there are some surprises in the final four. No surprise is seeing Brazil still alive with a chance to win the title. Brazil eliminated Germany in a quarterfinal rallying with two goals from Maicon. Costa Rica is one surprise semifinalist as Marcos Urena scored in the last minute of extra time to send the Ticos over UAE 2-1. Costa Rica will face Brazil in one semifinal.
Hungary and Ghana round out the other side of the bracket. Ghana advanced past Korea 3-2 in a very entertaining match while Hungary eliminated Italy in a game with four red cards and overtime. The two will show very different styles as Ghana attacks with speed and flare while Hungary is disciplined and looks for counters.
The semifinals are scheduled for Tuesday with the Under 20 Final on Friday.
