The choice of Will Bruin in the most recent MLS SuperDraft is looking like a good one for the Houston Dynamo as the youngster notched a hat trick in Houston's 4-1 whipping of DC United Friday night. With the win, the Dynamo extend their unbeaten streak to six games and look to be on good footing after a couple of nightmare MLS seasons previously.
The writing was on the wall early as the rookie from Indiana gave Houston the lead in the fourth minute. He took a pass through the United defense from Geoff Cameron and punched it in from 14 yards out in the left box. DC United were able to tie the score before halftime through Marc Burch, but Houston would have none of it answering back only a minute later as Bruin headed home.
The second half was all Houston as Will Bruin would complete hi hat trick in the 56th minute making it 3-1. Cameron Weaver made it 4-1 five minutes later and the match was effectively put to bed. Houston would see things out and grab the valuable three points. The win moves the Dynamo to the top of the Eastern Conference standings on 12 points, just ahead of New York Red Bulls. Meanwhile DC United sit well down the table in 7th with 7 points to show from 7 matches.
