Didier Drogba expertly tucked away a Bosingwa cross in the 78th minute to keep Chelsea's slim title hopes alive as they defeated Portsmouth 1-0 in a rainsoaked match. The weather was a major factor in the match as it rained throughout. It was Drogba's first goal since Boxing Day for Chelsea.
Chelsea dominated possession and field position, but to be fair it was two golden Portsmouth counter attacks that went unrewarded. The scoreline could have been different for sure, but in the end the better squad got the points on the day. The win moves Chelsea to within four points of Manchester United in the EPL title race. Man U travels to Newcastle tomorrow evening with a chance to buld their lead back to seven points.
The other two English Premier League matches on the day saw Arsenal ride a pair of Nicolas Bendtner goals to a 3-1 win over last place West Brom and Liverpool get two 2nd half goals to defeat Sunderland. The win also moves Liverpool to within four points of Manchester United. Arsenal inched closer to a Champions League spot trailing 4th place Aston Villa by three points. Villa faces Manchester City tomorrow.
