After a rousing start to his loan period at Everton it seems Landon Donovan is giving consideration to staying on after his loan period ends. Can anyone blame him at all? He needs to stay at Everton. He is already comfortable there based upon his statements.
"I've been made to feel so welcome and when you're welcome like that you don't want to let anyone down," he told the Liverpool Echo. It's a sharp contrast to how I felt last year when I was at Munich. It's a little more individual and selfish there. Here they make you feel part of a family and you keep going because you don't want to let anyone down."
Landon will be challenged every day and every match in the English Premier League. Such was not the case in MLS with the Los Angeles Galaxy. The move would make Landon Donovan a better player and make the US National Team that much better.
It is clear that Donovan has been blown away by his early experience in England. An opening snowy match against powers Arsenal and then a rousing home win over Manchester City. "The atmosphere completely surpassed what I thought, he said. "I guessed if we scored a few goals or were winning they'd be loud, but it was from minute one. They really push you on."
Landon is only scheduled to stay a couple of months, but given his early comments about his experience I would expect a push to allow him to make the move permament. "If I look back after 10 weeks and say I really want to stay then maybe I can make that happen. If I say OK it was good, but I'm ready to go then I can go, but for now I'm taking it week by week."
