Dallas Cup XXIX is in the books and aside from a little rain early in the week it will go down as a great success in showcasing the best youth soccer in the world. The talk of the tournament is how Liverpool ran roughshod over all comers to take the Super Group title.
Super Group --
No surprises here as Liverpool notched a comprehensive victory in the final over Mexican side Tigres 3-0. A pair of goals in the first half put the game on ice before a late tally made it 3-0. For Dallas Cup, Liverpool won all six matches by a combined 26-3 score and brought a wonderful style and attitude to every game.
Under 19 --
A rematch of last year's final was rehashed on Sunday as IMG academy took on Houston Dynamo Youth. This year however, the Houston Dynamo were able to exact revenge from losing last by winning a tight 2-1 match. The Dynamo reached the final by defeating Lewisham College from England and then winning a tight 3-2 semifinal match with Dallas Texans. IMG knocked off Solar 90 and then Shattuck St Mary's of Minnesota in the semifinals.
Under 17 --
Mexican pro side Tigres were able to take the championship with a 2-1 win over Tulsa SC. Tigres had a tough road to the final as they defeated Lonestar and San Diego Surf while Tulsa SC beat Real SoCal in the semifinal and won a tough group with Houstonians and Sockers FC.
Under 16 --
With six of the top 10 ranked teams in the nation playing, who would have thought two teams from outside the top ten would meet in the Dallas Cup final. Texans FC from Houston defeated Rampage of California 2-0 to take the championship. The Dallas Cup title was well earned as Houston Texans defeated #1 ranked Lonestar and #2 Sereno just to get to the final.
