Dallas Cup group play comes to a close

Group play has finished at Dallas Cup XXIX and the knockout phases are ready to go.  The weather is expected to be good for Friday and the Super Group takes center stage with semifinals at the stadium.

Super Group --
The big talk around Dallas Cup is the Mexican showdown between Tigres and CF Monterrey in one seminfal and if anyone can even think about challenging the powerful Liverpool side.  Benfica will give it a go in the other semifinal on Friday.

Under 19 --
All 4 big boys advanced as Solar SC, Dallas Texans and both of last year's finalists (Houston Dynamo & IMG Academy) made the quarterfinals.   Solar and IMG will square off in a highly anticipated quarterfinal.

Under 17 --
Alot of the higher ranked sides didnt get out of group at this age as Andromeda, Dallas Texans, Sockers and Houstonians all crashed out.  A pair of very entertaining matches between Southern California and Mexico await in the quarterfinals as San Diego Surf face Tigres and Real SoCal play CF Monterrey.
San Diego Surf - Tigres

Blast - Tulsa SC
Shattuck St Marys - Lonestar

Under 16 --
Six of the top ten ranked teams in the US faced off in group play with three not making it out of group play.  Solar SC, FC Barcelona and Santa Clara all fell out. Four Texas sides make up half the quarterfinals.  One quarterfinal stands out  though as #1 Lonestar matches up with #6 Dallas Texans in one quarterfinal. 
Houston Texans - Sereno
River Plate USA - Lower Merion Velez
Rampage - TFC
Lonestar - Dallas Texans

Under 15 --
Four sides from Mexico make up half the quarterfinal teams with rivals Tigres and CF Monterrey playing in one quarterfinal.  Sockers were the only one of the three top US ranked teams to advance as Solar and New York Red Bull were eliminated.
CF Monterrey - Tigres
Valley Blast - West Coast FC
FC Barcelona - Club Leon
Sockers - Universidad de Monterrey

Under 14 --
The big news at this age is the quarterfinal matchup of arch rivals Solar SC and Dallas Texans.   The Mexican sides didn't fare well at all in this bracket as only CD Guadalajara advanced out of seven teams from the south.  #2 ranked NJSA Gunners of New Jersey were eliminated in group play by Dallas Texans.

Central Jackson - Santa Clara Sporting
Solar Red - Italia III

Under 13 --
Another huge quarterfinal matchup looms as Dallas Texans will face off against Southampton of England on Friday.  Two west coast teams also cruised thru group play as FC Barcelona and ISC Strikers both won all their matches.

Dallas Texans South - FC Barcelona
ISC Strikers - Lonestar
