The Columbus Crew set a new MLS mark for consecutive home games without a loss last weekend after they defeated Toronto FC 3-2. An injury time goal from Jason Garey helped break the 2004-05 record of San Jose. The streak is currently at 19 matches in a row.
The Crew currently are on top of the Eastern Conference on 30 points, but are closely followed by the Chicago Fire on 29 and DC United on 28. The win over Toronto FC was important as it opened a gap as Toronto stayed on 26 points. The next two weekends shows Columbus away to Colorado and San Jose as they try to stay atop the Eastern Conference.
Guillermo Barros Schelotto currently leads the MLS in goals with 10 this season. Columbus will be represented by Chad Marshall at the MLS All Star Game Wednesday evening as the MLS All Stars face Everton at Real Salt Lake.
