The college soccer season will kick off with a bang over Labor Day weekend as several wonderful matchups dot the schedule. Alot of the major players on the college soccer scene will get a good early season test to see where their squad stands.
The highlight of the weekend will be the Carolina Nike Classic featuring Wake Forest, North Carolina, Akron and Seton Hall. Akron will be taking on UNC Friday evening and Wake Forest on Sunday.
Indiana will be hosting a tournament over the weekend as well which will include UCLA, Notre Dame and California. UCLA will play Notre Dame Friday and Indiana on Sunday.
There are plenty of other wonderful matchups on tap as well for Friday night. Louisville visits Duke. Michigan State travels to Maryland and St Johns visits Virginia Tech.
Saturday is a bit quieter on the schedule, but there are still a few games to keep track of. Stanford, UC Santa Barbara and South Florida looks to rebound from losses in their openers. Stanford heads east to face Harvard while South Florida faces a tough trip to St Louis. UCSB also has a difficult task as they travel to New Mexico.
Sunday has the finishes to the Carolina Nike Classic and the adidas Classic in Indiana as well as defending national champs Virginia facing a test at home against Big East powers St Johns. It should be a wonderful weekend of soccer to kick off the 2010 season.
