The season is nearing the halfway point and conference play is in full steam as the ACC and Big Ten conferences have important games on tap for the weekend. Top ranked Wake Forest faces their stiffest test of the season travelling to Virginia Tech while the Big Ten is looking to start shaking itself out between the dreamers and believers.
ACC Conference --
The big game of the weekend does not involve Wake Forest this weekend. It will take place at Duke as the Blue Devils host upstart Boston College. BC could vault themselves into the top 10 nationally with a win at Duke.
Wake Forest has been ranked #1 for a month now and took care of Maryland last weekend. This weekend, however, could be the stiffest test so far for the Demon Deacons as they travel to #17 Virginia Tech on Saturday. Currently, Boston College sits atop the conference with a 3-0-0 record while both Duke and Wake remain unbeaten at 2-0-0. Other games in the ACC involve Virginia hosting a disappointing North Carolina side and Maryland hosting Clemson.
Big Ten Conference --
This could be the weekend the Big Ten starts to shake itself out. Are Michigan and Michigan State for real or will conference powers Indiana and Northwestern flex their muscles? #18 Michigan State will get their chance as they travel to #13 Indiana while Michigan has the weekend off from conference play. Other games show Northwestern hosting Wisconsin and Ohio State hosting Penn State.
Other games of interest ---
#21 California - #12 Washington
#7 Notre Dame hosting #19 West Virginia
#23 Villanova - #27 St Johns
