The Rafa Benitez tenure has not begun well at Stamford Bridge as Chelsea failed to find the net for the third straight match as they slumped to a scoreless draw against Fulham. No life whatsover as the team were booed off the field at the final whistle. It's only been a week, but ouch. That's not Chelsea soccer at all. One last fact, it has been over ten hours of play since Fernando Torres scored a goal. Why is he still in the lineup?
As Chelsea slumped, Tottenham surged ahead led by in form Gareth Bale. The Spurs dispatched Liverpool 2-1 at White Hart Lane to move up to 7th in the EPL.
Both Manchester sides were winners. City took care of an overmatched Wigan side 2-0 as James Milner came off the bench to notch a goal. Man City ran their ridiculous unbeaten streak to twenty EPL matches in a row. United slipped past a tough West Ham side on an early Robin Van Persie goal.
The match of the day saw Arsenal and Everton battle to a 1-1 draw at Goodison Park. An opening minute goal from Theo Walcott was canceled out by a Marouanne Fellaini strike. The result leaves Everton in fifth place followed by Arsenal who sit a single point behind.
Elsewhere, Newcastle blew a first half lead as Stoke rallied with a pair of second half goals only minutes apart to claim a 2-1 win. The three points move Stoke up to 10th while Newcastle languish in a disappointing 14th.
