I think it has happened to all of us. That dreaded day from hell where everything goes wrong. Unfortunately for coach Pep Guardiola and Bayern Munich their "day from hell" has been ongoing for several now.
After dominating long stretches of last week's opening leg and coming out on the losing end of a 1-0 match, Guardiola faced tons of criticism from fans and experts alike. Then they lost their Bundesliga match in the weekend and things continued to spiral.
It all could have been fixed today though if Bayern were able to beat Real Madrid and advance to the Champions League final. But, alas, the same record continued playing as Bayern Munich were thumped at the hands of Real Madrid.
With expectations high in Germany the game started most terribly for the home side. The most unlikely of heroes emerged as Sergio Ramos scored twice in the opening minutes vaulting Real Madrid in front. Then a classic counter made it 3-0 as Cristiano Ronaldo rolled home a perfect pass as the stunned crowd began to realize their unhappy fate.
The second half saw Real "go Mourinho" and bunker down to hold what they had. While looking to counter with Gareth Bale and Cristianio Ronaldo the Spaniards sat deep and heaped numbers behind the ball. The strategy worked perfectly as with only 15 minutes to play the scoreline remained 3-0.
Even when things went right for Bayern and they got into a good shooting position the ball seemed to whiz just high as both Gotze and Kroos narrowly missed.
Cristiano Ronaldo put the exclamation point on a wonderful result as he rolled a 22 yard free kick underneath the jumping Real Madrid wall in the 90th minute.
Real Madrid 5 Bayern Munich 0 on aggregate. Ouch.
Real Madrid advances to the Champions League final. Will it be an all Madrid final between Atletico and Real? Or will we get a Chelsea v Real Madrid final?
