2008 Champions League Draw for Round of 16

The draw for the first knockout phase for the Champions League was held Friday morning and it produced some smashing matchups for the round of 16.   The most anticipated matchup will be when former rival coaches Alex Ferguson and Jose Mourinho face off.  Yes, Inter Milan have been drawn to open with Manchester United.

The English sides were given no favors in the draw as in addition to the Man U-Inter draw, Chelsea and Liverpool also drew tough assignments.  Chelsea will face Juventus and Liverpool sees Real Madrid.  Arsenal got the best draw of the English sides as they will face off with Roma.

In form Barcelona were drawn against French leaders Lyon.  Other matchups include Atletico Madrid-FC Porto, Sporting Lisbon-Bayern Munich and Villareal-Panathinaikos.

Chelsea - Juventus
Liverpool - Real Madrid
Arsenal - Roma
Barcelona - Lyon
Atletico Madrid - FC Porto
Villareal - Panathinaikos
Sporting Lisbon - Bayern Munich
