The draw for the quarterfinal round of the 2009 Champions League was made in Switzerland today with the marquee matchup clearly being a Liverpool-Chelsea clash. It is the 4th time in the last five years that the two sides have met in the Champions League knockout phases. The matchup between the 2nd and 3rd place English Premier League sides should be wonderful. EPL leaders Manchester United drew Portuguese title holders FC Porto.
Another enticing matchup pits Barcelona against German powers Bayern Munich who are having injury issues lately with both Miroslav Klose and Luca Toni missing games. Elsewhere, Arsenal drew a Villareal side that barely escaped last round against Panathinaikos. Should be a favorable matchup for Arsenal.
