A classy Brazil squad well outclassed the Americans Wednesday in South Africa winning comfortably 3-0. It was a very poor first half from the US that saw them give away an early goal once again. This time a silly foul on the flank led to a wonderfully crossed free kick found Felipe Melo for a crushing header to open the scoring.
In the 19th minute the US invited a brilliant Brazil counter when Demarcus Beasley failed to control a short corner. The ball rolled under his foot and Brazil were off to the races to the other end where Robinho calmly slotted home the square ball from Ramires. Hopefully that is the last we will see of Beasley in the national team as he has been nothing short of awful the last few matches. Beasley was replaced at halftime.
The 2nd half saw the US come out on a better foot, gaining some possession and getting into the attack a bit. All that changed though in the 56th minute when another reckless challenge led to a red card. Against Italy it was Ricardo Clark....this time it was Sacha Kljestan sent off. At that point the match was really over as Brazil grabbed the 3rd goal just five minutes later. A nice series of combinations down the right side led to Maicon getting deep into the US box where he finished over Tim Howard.
The US did create a couple of late chances as both Connor Casey and Benny Fielhaber both hit the woodwork. The match ended 3-0 to Brazil as they were clearly on another level.

Americans have a soccer team to make them proud. A team that embodies everything that makes the United States great. Heart, effort, the never say die attitude.
