Well it was good for 10 minutes.....and then a young and extremely talented squad from Brazil overwhelmed the United States in front or 77,000 in East Rutherford, New Jersey. A couple of youngsters shined brightly for the South Amercians as 18 year old Neymar was the man of the match causing headaches for the US midfield all night long.
It was Neymar that got Brazil on the board in 29th minute as he fired home a header off a cross from Andre Santos. For a player so gifted on the ball, it was equally impressive to see the quality of his header. Neymar is the next big thing. The only question is which big European power is going to shell out the most to buy him from Santos in Brazil.
Another young Brazilian was causing the US problems along with Neymar. Twenty year old Alexandre Pato was making dangerous runs asking questions of the American defense time after time. Just before halftime Pato's well-timed run split the defense and led to an easy finish as Pato rounded Tim Howard.
The US tried to fight back, but never were able to match the powerful midfield of the Brazilians. The score could have been worse than 2-0 as Brazil buzzed around all night. A heaer from Michael Bradley looked to get the US on the board, but it was correctly ruled offside. At the end of the night it was never more clear that American soccer still has a ways to go to match the class of Brazil.
