David Beckham is set to return to MLS play with the LA Galaxy ahead of schedule after recovering from his achilles tear suffered in March. Originally doctors targeted October 1st for Beckham to make his return to MLS action, but the English star has been ahead of schedule and looks fit to play.
He is hoping for some minutes in the upcoming September 11st Galaxy match against the Columbus Crew. Beckham told Galaxy's website: "The doctors' original date was October 1, but I always kind of said I want to be ready before then. I'll keep my fingers crossed and hopefully will play in part of the game here against Columbus. I'll be on the bench, and hopefully I'll get on the field for 15-20 minutes. That's what I'm looking at.''
David Beckham, who returned to training with his Galaxy teammates on August 11, insisted retirement was never on his mind at any point from the moment the injury occurred. The Galaxy still lead the MLS Western Conference, but have seen their lead shrinking steadily as Real Salt Lake and FC Dallas continue their hot play.
