Bayern Munich traveled to France holding a tenuous 1-0 lead over Lyon, but left on cloud nine after a dominating performance sent them into the Champions League final next month. Ivaca Olic ruled the day as he notched a hat trick for Bayern.
A first half that saw more shocking misses than goals had Bayern Munich leading 1-0 at the break. Both sides missed simple finishes in the opening half of play that left both coaches shaking their heads, but Ivaca Olic would not miss as he spun and fired home in the 26th minute of play.
The second half saw Lyon facing a daunting task of needing goals in bunches. However a refereeing incident would influence the half more than anything else. A questionable call against Cris of Lyon led to protests from the crowd and players. Cris was given a yellow card for what was debatable to even be a foul. Cris clapped in jest at the official who promptly gave him his second yellow and a trip to the locker room. Now Lyon were down to ten men and the match was over.
Bayern Munich poured it on from there as Ivaca Olic scored goals in the 66th and 77th minutes providing the 3-0 scoreline and booking the Germans a place in the 2010 Champions League final next month. It will be Bayern Munich's 8th final appearance. Their opponent will be decided tomorrow as Barcelona face off with Inter Milan.
