World famous FC Barçelona have announced plans for a preseason tour of the United States summer 2011. In 2010 Barca went to Asia. This summer the team are returning to the United States, where they will play three games. The spokesman for the board, Toni Freixa, announced the summer plans for Pep Guardiola’sside, which is expected to generate $10 million income for the club.
The tour kicks off on July 30th with a high profile matchup against Manchester United in the nations capital Washington DC. Barca will then head south to play AC Milan in Miami before heading to the Texas for the final game of the tour.
The highlight of the
Barcelona summer tour is an August 6th clash with Club America at the wonderful Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The stadium holds over 100,000 and with the popularity of Club America in the area a monster crowd can be expected.
With a light international schedule expected the traveling sides should be loaded with talent getting fit for the upcoming season in Europe. The following are three games to be played this summer in the United States:
