Barcelona took care of business as they held off Real Madrid on the final day of La Liga play in Spain. Real Madrid entered the day trailing Barcelona by only a point in the standings, but Barca was not to be denied at the Nou Camp.
A shaky start quickly turned in the home sides favor and they took the lead thanks to a Real Valladolid own goal in the 27th minute. Barca settled from there and the rest of the match was one way traffic as the home crowd celebrated in style.
Pedro scored to give Barcelona a 2-0 halftime lead and then the young star Lionel Messi left his stamp in the second half notching the third and fourth in the 4-0 victory. The two goals gave Messi 47 in all competitions for the year tying the record of Ronaldo.
It is Barcelona's second La Liga title in a row and especially satisfying after their rivals Real Madrid splashed so much money in the transfer market last summer in an attempt to overtake them.
