Arsenal bring Blackpool back to Earth

Arsenal gave Blackpool a harsh dose of reality at the Emirates on Saturday afternoon.  Blackpool were on cloud nine all week after their impressive 4-0 thrashing of Wigan last weekend in their EPL opener.  Arsenal dished some of that right back at Blackpool this week running out 6-0 winners.

To be fair, Blackpool started brightly and made a game of it in the opening minutes.  A couple of good attacks had the visitors with brief hope.  Then Theo Walcott put his stamp on the game.  Blackpool had no answer for the speedy winger and Walcott ran wild down the right the whole first half.  Walcott raced in unmarked to slide home a perfect pass from Arshavin in the 12th minute and Arsenal were on their way.

The game-changing moment came in 31st minute as Ian Evatt hauled down Arshavin at the edge of the penalty area resulting in a red card and a penalty kick.  It was a harsh decision, but the referee looked to get it right in the end.  Arshavin slotted home the spot kick and all hopes were lost for Blackpool.

Theo Walcott would make it 3-0 at the half as he notched his 2nd goal of the game.  A classy goal finished off by Diaby opened the 2nd half before Walcott got his hat trick soon after.  The rout was on.  Chamakh would head home a corner late on to provide the 6-0 scoreline and Blackpool limp home looking for better days.
