It was Arsenal who showed the class as two EPL heavyweights did battle Saturday at the Emirates Stadium in London. Samir Nasri was the hero for the Gunners as he notched both goals in the 2-1 victory that moved Arsenal past Man U and into 3rd place in the league table.
Arsenal were questioning themselves leading up to the game as they were coming off a disappointing draw with Tottenham and were missing Emmanuel Adebayor (injured) and Robin van Persie due to suspension. The Gunners came to play though in a highly entertaining match that saw both teams have several scoring chances. It was Arsenal's Samir Nasri that stole the show though.
Arsenal drew first blood with Nasri's opener coming in the 22nd minute after Patrice Evra fouled Bacary Sagna on the right touchline. Berbatov headed away the freekick, but only as far as Nasri, who rifled a volley at goal that took a deflection off Gary Neville to wrongfoot Van der Sar and hit the net.
The second goal came just after halftime. It was Nasri again as Fabregas made his way around Gary Neville and spotted Nasri unmarked, with the youngster given enough space to bide his time and lash past Van der Sar for the 2-0 lead.
Manchester United would grab a late consolation goal thru substitute Rafael da Silva, but it was not enough as Arsenal won the battle 2-1.
