Arsenal closes ground with win over Chelsea

Arsenal gained a valuable 3 points on leaders Chelsea thanks to a come from behind 2-1 victory on Sunday afternoon.  Manchester United were gainers as well as they defeated rivals Manchester City 2-1 despite a Cristiano Ronaldo red card.

Robin van Persie was the hero as he scored a pair of 2nd half goals to lift Arsenal over Chelsea.  The win kept Arsenal in the title race as they moved to within 7 points of Chelsea.  Liverpool has a chance to move to the top of the EPL table with a Monday win or draw with West Ham.  Chelsea held a 1-0 halftime lead and could have opened a monster 13 point lead over Arsenal if they could have held on.

In Manchester, a first half Wayne Rooney tap in would stand up as Man U defeated Man City 1-0.  Cristiano Ronaldo was sent off with his 2nd yellow for an intentional handball, but tons of Man City pressure did not result in a goal.  The United win moved them to within 5 points of Chelsea.

Elsewhere, Sundaerland drifted into the relegation zone after a 4-1 thumping to Bolton who jumped up to 9th place.  Arteta scored a 2nd half goal to lift Everton to a 1-0 win over struggling Tottenham.  Everton moved to 7th with the win.  Wigan grabbed an important 3 points over last place West Brom.
