Jozy Altidore scored the opening goal as Hull City upset Manchester City 2-1 Saturday. It was the first EPL goal for
Jozy Altidore. He had scored previously for Hull in a League Cup match. Hull City is fighting against relegation from the English Premier League and the three points are of immense importance in that fight. The important goal came in the 31st minute after being fed by Jan Venegoor of Hesselink on the edge of the penalty area and curling into the bottom corner past goalkeeper Shay Given.
George Boateng made it 2-0 early in the second half before Adebayor pulled one back for Manchester City. It was the first loss for City under new boss Roberto Mancini.
The goal will come as good news for US soccer fans who are counting on
Jozy Altidore to supply plenty of attacks and goals at the upcoming
World Cup in South Africa this summer.
