They feel the weight of a continent and so far that weight has been crushing the African teams at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. It has been one disappointing effort after another. A daily occurence. After the Ivory Coast lost to Brazil on Sunday the African sides are a whopping 1-7-4. Only a single win from twelve games.
South Africa is poised to become the first ever host nation to be eliminated in the opening round. They'll need a big win over France and a lopsided result in the Uruguay-Mexico match. Nigeria is all but out unless they crush South Korea. Algeria is barely alive and must beat the US to have any hope. Cameroon has been a monumental flop losing both games. Ivory Coast is hanging by a thread and will need a win over Portugal in their final game to have any chance.
Only Ghana has performed well. They sit atop Group D, but still must face Germany in their last group match. Lose to Germany and they could find themselves out as well. It is very conceivable that every single African nation could be out in the opening round. A collosal disappointment that would be for the first World Cup held on the African continent.
