The ACC is getting into the meat of their conference schedule as teams jockey for positioning in the most powerful soccer conference in the US.  Currently #2 ranked Maryland sit atop the standings with a perfect 3-0-0 record.  Their toughest ACC games remain though as they face difficult looming trips to Virginia and North Carolina.  The Maryland resume is impressive though as they remain unbeaten on the season with non conference wins over Creighton, Stanford and St Johns.

North Carolina and Duke sit just behind Maryland on 7 points.  Both have played an extra game though, meaning Maryland's lead is solid.  Virginia is on six points with only a conference loss to North Carolina so far.

Wake Forest, Boston College and NC State all sit on two losses and are in danger of losing touch with the leaders.  Meanwhile, Virginia Tech and Clemson have three losses and will be looking to salvage a season that is quickly going south.

The big game of the coming weekend is Maryland making the trip to face Virginia.  If the Terps can get the three points on the road they'll be in firm control of the ACC title race.  If Virginia can defend their home turf they'll throw the conference race back into a four team free for all.  Wake Forest travels to Boston College in what can be deemed an elimination match.  The winner can focus on making a move at the top four while the loser will be treading water at best.

Andrew Wenger of Duke and Maryland's Casey Townsend lead the ACC in scoring with 12 and 11 respectively.   Enzo Martinez of North Carolina is the leading assist man so far with 7.
