MLS Cup 2006 Sold Out!

FRISCO, Texas -- Major League Soccer announced today that MLS Cup 2006 is sold out. The 11th MLS championship game will be played on Sunday, Nov. 12 at 2:30 p.m. CT at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, Texas, (capacity 20,500). Tickets have been purchased by fans from 33 states and the District of Columbia, plus Australia, Canada, Italy, the United Kingdom, and overseas Military. A limited number of Standing Room Only tickets are available for $30 each if purchased in advanced or $40 if still available on game day. Standing Room Only tickets can be purchased in advance by calling 888-FCD-GOAL, on www.MLSCup.com, or at the stadium box office.

MLS Cup 2006 features the Eastern Conference Champions New England Revolution playing the Western Conference Champions Houston Dynamo for the Alan I. Rothenberg Trophy. The game will be televised live to a national audience on ABC Sports (2:30 p.m. CT) while ESPN International will televise it in 96 countries via ESPN Dos, ESPN Atlantic and ESPN Pac-Rim networks.

The previous 10 MLS Cups have attracted nearly 385,000 fans (an average of 38,443 per game) to see MLS' season-ending championship and the awarding of the Alan I. Rothenberg Trophy. Last year's game, also held at Pizza Hut Park, drew a sell-out crowd of 21,193 to watch the Los Angeles Galaxy defeat the New England Revolution 1-0 in extra time.

ESPN and ABC lead soccer play-by-play commentator Dave O'Brien will call the match, soccer Hall of Famer Eric Wynalda and former U.S. National Team manager Bruce Arena will serve as analysts with former U.S. Women's National Team star Brandi Chastain as the sideline reporter. With Wynalda and Arena in the three-person commentator booth, a first in MLS Cup television history, the broadcast will feature two of America's biggest soccer personalities - the National Team's all-time leading goal scorer, and its most successful coach ever. Rob Stone, the play-by-play voice of Major League Soccer on ESPN2, will host the broadcast.
