Who gets first crack at David Beckham has been debated over the past few weeks, and on Friday, AEG and the Galaxy will announce a match against Chelsea.
Both the weekend before and after the All-Star Game (July 19 in Dicks' Sporting Goods Park) are open dates, and the Galaxy opens play in the SuperLiga the following week (July 24) against Guadalajara. Chelsea is headed to Asia this summer, but will stop off in the U.S. first to play the Galaxy. A second game against another opponent has also been discussed.
The SuperLiga opener has been widely assumed to be Becks' debut in a Galaxy uniform, but a source says he'll play for LA against Chelsea prior to the All-Star Game, for which he can be included as one of the two picks allotted to Commissioner Don Garber.
