US Under 17 Jack McInerney led a class of 7 Generation Adidas signees announced by MLS. McInerney led the U17 attack at last fall's Under 17 World Cup. Joining Jack McInerney in the 2009 Generation Adidas class are MAC Hermann Trophy finalists Andre Akpan from Harvard and Teal Bunbury from Akron. In addition, highly touted underclassmen Dilly Duka of Rutgers and Blair Gavin frolm Akron University were also announced.
The final two players are college seniors Zach Loyd frolm North Carolina and Toni Stahl of UConn.
Andre Akpan finished his collegiate career at Harvard as the school's all-time leading scorer with 127 points (47 goals, 33 assists), was the 2009 Ivy League Player of the Year and a three-time finalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy. Teal Bunbury was the Mid-American Conference Player of the Year. He led the nation in goals with 17, and added five assists to lead the Akron Zips with 39 points this season.
The 2010 MLS SuperDraft takes place on Thursday, January 14 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia.
